Ricoh Arena’s “permanent journey of improvement” leads to Barcelona
In a quest for new ideas, the entire executive team of the Ricoh Arena – one of the UK s leading multi-use stadium and entertainment facilities – is heading to Stadium Business Summit 2011
Located in the heart of the UK, Ricoh Arena is regarded as one of the most innovative sports, entertainment and business destinations in the country. The complex includes not only a 32,600-capacity stadium – which is home to Coventry City FC – but also a 6,000 square-metre exhibition hall, a hotel, a leisure club and a casino.
Ricoh Arena was the first cashless stadium in the UK, with customers using a prepay smartcard system in the grounds bars and shops. Next year, Ricoh Arena will host Summer Olympics 2012 football matches – and will be temporarily renamed City of Coventry Stadium.
"As a former award-winner, speaker, panellist, delegate and supporter of the internationally acclaimed Stadium Business Summit, I am pleased to be taking my entire executive team to Barcelona for the 2011 event," explains Daniel Gidney (pictured), Chief Executive of The Ricoh Arena. "In a unique global industry dominated by sports clubs with resources often focused on sports team success, often the biggest asset (the stadium) is forgotten about."
